the journey
of my life
In Nargol, she told me to wait. She said that she was not ready yet to teach. She said soon. Soon can mean a lot of things. The English said soon and that turned into many years. They lost our trust with their delays and tricks. But her I trusted when she said soon.
She asked where I lived. I said, "Just near, I live now right here in Nargol." I said that I had once lived in Calcutta. With large eyes and full attention, she said I had come a long way, fully across the country.
I don't think she was meaning just the journey across India. That had been easy. I think she meant the journey of my life that brought me standing now on her doorstep.
