The Chronicles of the Khabti Stone
A Synopsis by Andre Petrolo
An Ancient World...
For generations, the territory of Khabti, lying in the kingdom of Mystere, was at peace. Through a life of simplicity, community, collectivity and love they co-existed peacefully, under the watchful eye of the Lady of the Lotus and her children - each one entrusting an aspect of their power to one of 12 people – High Druids - they had chosen especially to act as their agents on Mystere. For centuries, the main villages of Khabti lived in harmony, sharing and practicing the teachings of their respective gods and enjoying the fruits of their devotion as they did...
A Curse Bestowed...
The Lady of the Lotus and her children took their Samadhis, leaving their creations to continue on with their teachings. At this time, a malevolent force named Malum - which had been in hiding - re-emerged, brought on by the people themselves. Baser desires were given into in an extreme manner as society slid further and further into the clutches of the Kindred Six – the agents of Malum on Khabti – whilst trying to re-discover the source of the lives they had led before. Some sought to re-discover the powers through pursuit of ambition, some through accumulating vast wealth and some still seeking it through lust and desire – all in an attempt to ignite the spark once more. Slowly, the land begins to grow ill as the power of Malum spreads through her agents, seeping into society. The High Druids cursed, each one made to take the form of an animal as Malum’s influence spread. With the assistance of the Kindred Six, once pure members of society were consumed with obsession – to return Khabti to its former glory – and seek to do so through questionable and damaging means – all the while believing their intentions to be good...
The Final Hope...
A boy, on the verge of his 19th birthday, stands as the last hope of his territory. He alone has been chosen by the Lady of the Lotus, as a result of his practice and adherence to the teachings of Khabti Lore. But even she cannot guarantee his success. For he will need to overcome his own demons, a result of abandonment by his mother and a family not known to him for many years due to lies, treachery and deceit propagated by her – in order to do so. For ultimately, he will need to re-unite the now fractured territory and discover the true essence of the once great territory – and indeed kingdom – by facing the one enemy he struggles to see – the demons that lurk within himself.
Will he do so in time...or will he fall victim to himself?
THE KHABTI STONE CHRONICLES
PRISM: BOOK ONE – THE AFFLICTED
In film-making, this would be considered to be a treatment, which is always something that I find hdifficult to judge. (I’m not so good with scripts either.) It is like trying to experience a building by looking at the blueprint. I just can’t tell what colour the paint will be.
Nonetheless, there is something powerful here. Is it that we are our own enemy? is it that even God can’t guarantee our success. We do have freewill, so you can’t tell how it will play out.
Do you have a sample of the writing style? When you are ready, of course.
