For the past several years I have been surrounded by friends and colleagues with children. And of course they are full of stories of what their kids have come up with. I will add a couple below. I find it amazing how wise (and very funny sometimes) children are in their innocence. I was thinking that it would be amazing to put together many such stories and create books about them. I would title the books 'Innocent Intelligence' and the subtitle can be the country the children are from, so 'Innocent Intelligence - Romania', 'Innocent Intelligence - Spain' etc. etc. You can see a few examples below:
Albert (2 and a half - loves eating, finds his mom in the kitchen):
- Mummy, I love you!
- Why do you love me, Albert?
- Because you feed me
Mircea (3 years old):
- Mummy, where is my toy plane?
- I don't know, Mircea, you played with it
- No, I don't know. You know everything!
Luca (5, talking to his parents):
- I will start a shop on wheels. With an engine. I will drive it and if someone wants me to stop, I will stop. So that the shop comes to people, instead of people going to the shop. Isn't this a good idea?
Aaron (7, talking to his mom):
- Mummy, why do you smoke?
- Because it makes me happy.
- No, mummy, your happiness is not inside the cigarette
- But where is it, Aaron?
- Inside you, mummy, inside you.
Albert (3, after his mom found him the balcony, after he was shouting for her):
- Mummy, I didn't know what to do.
- Why, Albert?
- I had two voices in my head; one was telling me to keep quiet, the other one to call for you. I didn't know which one to listen to.
Mom was worried and she asked about the voices. It turns out that's what he called his thoughts.
My nephew at around three years old to his mother 'If I'd known you were going to be such a ratbag I'd never have been borned to you'.
