A light upon this poem:
For many a year, upon many a sunrise, has this poet's eyes lingered upon the feet of a thousand Raags. And yet could he never write of their holiness and purity. 'Their feet are so pure,' said he, 'that only flowers may fall upon them.'
O, but what the voice of the Queen Mother had whispered, among rain and wind: "Write of the rain and write of the clouds. What is that melody that binds their souls?"
"Raag Megh," the poet answered the Lovely Voice. And, with Her softest rain of blessings, did the wind speak, painting these words upon its silks.
(Raag Megh is said to be of the family of the first Raags ever created. And it was formed by the graceful movements of the clouds, and the hum of rain. It is a seasonal Raag that is played in the beautiful Monsoon season. 'Megh' itself means, in Sanskrit, 'cloud.'
It was written on a day where mother Spring blanketed the sky with Her peaceful grey.
O, within these poems of Raagmala, music and poetry are one. Sages of Saheetya, listen to the same melody below, played by the ancient instrument of Shiva. Raags answer to the call of their name, just as Shri Hanuman and Shri Ramchandra).
When the cloud sweeps
That sky of calm,
O Seer, I am that hand
That moves
That colorful cloud.
In the midst of one thousand raindrops,
I am the song.
And in the heart of rain,
I am that timeless dance.
With the wind do I carry tears
From Heaven unto Heaven
To the Kingdom of my Lord.
And, O Seer, no king nor master
Can seize His Kingdom.
I am Megh.
The Grace, The Messenger
Of cloud and stream.
it makes me feel
(again)
that we should make
a fine and beautiful
book
of all the words of
the sages of saheetya
listen
what do you hear now
Waah Wah!
Dear rishimusiclife, I knew today was going to bring something astonishing.
I am so happy to be the first to say thank you - and all the deities on my chakras also thank you. What a feast of music and words. The New Age has surely begun.
Namaste!
